Sony Xperia Z Ultra.

Sony pada akhirnya meluncurkan smartphone anyarnya yang selama ini hanya sekedar rumor, Xperia Z Ultra, smartphone Android yang diklaim Sony tertipis di dunia dengan layar sentuh 6,4 inci.

Xperia Z Ultra tak mau kalah untuk menunjukkan kecanggihan kepada  saingannya Huawei Ascend P6 dan Galaxy S4 Active sebagai smartphone tipis, tahan air dan debu serta bersertifikat IP58. Sayangnya, kedua ponsel cerdas itu telah terlebih dahulu memperkenalkan kecanggihan itu. Smartphone Sony yang satu ini disebut-sebut mampu bertahan di kedalaman satu meter air selama 30 menit.

Sony memperkenalkan teknologi layar baru untuk Xperia Z Ultra yakni Triluminos, yang juga digunakan untuk televisi Sony Bravia guna menghasilkan reproduksi warna yang lebih baik, serta x-Reality yang berfungsi untuk mengoptimalkan warna, ketajaman dan kontras gambar pada ponsel.  Performa kerja Xperia Z Ultra didukung prosesor Qualcomm Snapdragon S800 dengan kecepatan 2,2GHz dan konektivitas cepat 4G LTE. Untuk menghasilkan gambar maupun video yang apik, Sony melengkapinya dengan kamera belakang 8 megapiksel dengan sensor Exmor RS, kamera depan 2 megapiksel, serta mode Superior Auto yang mampu mengaktifkan HDR dan mengurangi kebisingan suara secara otomatis.

Untuk menyuplai daya kerja bagi layarnya yang beresolusi tinggi, 1080 x 1920 pixels, Z Ultra disokong daya baterai sebesar 3050 mAh. Sementara untuk kapasitas memorinya, tersedia 16 GB penyimpanan internal dan dapat diperbesar dengan menggunakan slot microSD hingga 64 GB.

Pihak Sony yang diwakili oleh desainernya, Juni Katsunuma, meyakinkan pengguna Sony bahwa meskipun Xperia Z Ultra memiliki layar yang lebih besar, masih muat untuk digenggam satu tangan karena ponsel ini hanya berukuran 6,5 mm dan beratnya 212g, seperti dilansir situs The Next Web pada Selasa, 25 Juni 2013.

Perusahaan teknologi asal Jepang itu masih belum mau mengungkapkan harga ponsel Xperia Z Ultra namun pihaknya memastikan ketersediaan barang akan ada pada kuartal ketiga tahun 2013 dan dijual dengan tiga varian warna, hitam, putih, dan ungu.
